Henson Crisp independent financial advisers in Peterborough and Cambridge
Sending financial planning communications is not just about sending updates or ticking regulatory boxes, it’s about helping clients feel informed, confident, and connected to the plans we build together. That’s why we put real care into the communications we send and the way we send them.

Here’s a look at the types of financial planning communications we send our clients, what they are and why we send them.

Regulatory & compliance financial planning communications

On occasion, we are required to send some financial planning communications to you. At the very start of your financial planning journey with us, when you are invited to your initial meeting we will give you our welcome pack containing:

- Our onboarding brochure

This booklet introduces who we are, what we do, and how we support our clients.

- Client Agreement

Our client agreement outlines our typical engagement process, from initial consultation to our ongoing services.

- Fact find

This document is crucial in helping us to understand your circumstances and helps us build your financial plan. It is important to fill this out in as much detail as possible in order for us to get a realistic insight into your personal and financial circumstances.

- Attitude to risk questionnaire

You will be provided with our attitude to risk questionnaire.

The risk questionnaire, alongside our discussions, will help us determine how comfortable you would be with investment volatility.

As part of the attitude to risk questionnaire, you will need to answer the “capacity for loss” questions. These answers will help us to understand your financial resilience.

- Marketing consent form.

We believe in sharing our financial knowledge with our clients by providing the latest financial news, changes in legislation and other important information to ensure you are always in the know when it comes to your finances. We send weekly blogs by email as well as our quarterly newsletter, filled with the latest financial news. We also use our mailing list to invite you to our events. Our mailing list is exclusive to our clients that opt in to receive marketing communications.

- Service proposition and engagement

There will be two copies of our service proposition and engagement document. This will include:

o Your financial priorities that you had discussed with us in your initial meeting

o The services we agreed to provide

o The level of service you have requested based on our client agreement

o How our services can help you meet your financial objectives

o What we will charge you and how it is to be paid

It is important to read this alongside the client agreement. If you would like to go ahead and appoint us as your financial adviser we will require a signed copy of this document before any work can commence.

The next stage of the process and financial planning communications

After our initial meeting we will get to work building your personal financial plan. We will then invite you back to a meeting where we will present the plan, explaining what we recommend, why, and how we intend to help you meet your financial objectives. We will provide you with a copy of the plan, which will include:

- Suitability report

A suitability report will be sent to you to show how our recommendations meet your objectives. Not only is it important that you read the report, but it is important that you understand it.

Unlike our client agreement, the suitability report is written for each individual and is tailored to you, bearing in mind your circumstances, your objectives and is written so it easy to read and understand.

- Service and fee request & instruction

Whilst our fees are outlined in our client agreement, our service and fee request & instruction will be sent to you along with your service proposition and engagement and it tells us exactly how you would like to pay for our services and what level of service you would like.

Once you are fully onboarded with us, we will invite you to periodic review meetings. The frequency of your meetings depend on the level of service you have requested from us. In these meetings you will be provided with:

- Annual suitability review

We will contact you to invite you to a review meeting. Whilst these are optional, we do encourage our clients to attend these meetings to ensure your financial plan is still on track to meet your goals. As part of this service we will review your current situation, investment objects and attitude to risk to assess the continued suitability of your existing plans, or recommend any changes if necessary.

- Costs and charges report

We are required to provide an annual breakdown of all costs associated with your investment(s) to ensure you are aware of the work and services we have provided and what these services cost.

Personalised review reminders

These reminders ensure clients never miss the chance to revisit goals, adjust plans, or discuss life’s changes. We like to be proactive in our approach, rather than reactive to ensure your financial plan grows with you and is consistently aligned with your long-term goals.

Regular market & economic updates

Financial markets are constantly moving, and headlines can be overwhelming. Our updates cut through the noise by explaining what’s happening and how it could affect your financial plan.

When we send market & economic updates we translate complex events and cut out the jargon, making information easier to understand for everyone.

Service updates & company news

We include a section in our quarterly newsletter with company news, which includes details such as: welcoming new team members, improving our systems or celebrating our teams successes and milestones.

Educational content & guides

In addition to our weekly emails and quarterly newsletter, we also have a news and resources page on our website. We regularly update this section of our website with guides, tools and useful links, current tax tables, case studies and the latest financial news.

Our commitment to clear, ongoing financial planning communications

Ultimately, our aim is to make financial planning feel clear, accessible, and reassuring. By combining essential regulatory financial planning communications with regular updates, educational content, and proactive review reminders, we ensure you’re never left in the dark. If anything we send prompts a question, or you’d like to talk something through, your adviser is always happy to help.
